I meet up with Chris and Shell a few months before the wedding and felt a great connection with them straight away, when they told me they where going to wear traditional kilts for the day that got me even more excited, We where also doing photo and video for this one with Dwayne and Timmy doing photos to compliment my video.
The day started with us heading to shells place to get do the images and video of the girls getting ready, I love the images and video from this part of the day we had a great backdrop and a fun group of girls.
Tim and I headed of to see they boys, who where gearing up for a big day and with a mix of Scottish and Irish all wearing there traditional kilts and some characters amoungst the group I knew it was going to me a entertaining moring and rest of the day for that matter.
After spending a bit of time with the lads I heading back to see the ladies quickly before the ceremony, It was a great mix of tradition and culture packed full of emotion, love and laughter. They really are a amazing couple it is easy to feel the bond between Chris and Shell.
We decided to head down the beach with the bridal party with a esky and we had so much fun which you can see in the long version, Its amazing how since we brought the gimbal to assist us with our videos exactly how much amazing footage there is it really is so hard to decide which footage makes the highlights.
We had a lot of fun at Currumbin surf life saving club which is a nice venue with lots of room and overlooking the water. We even managed to quickly sneak our couple out around sunset as they had a early ceremony which gave us the chance to create some more amazing images. Lots of dancing and fun to finish the night.
Shell and Chris where so excited when they received there images and when I recently gave them the link for there video. I have put some of our favorite images and a link to both videos included.
Samson & Monica contacted me at the start of the year about doing there wedding video, They loved my previous work and after a quick chat they booked me in to collaborate with there photographer Sam who they had already booked. I often have this situation where the photographer has already been booked and I come in for video. So I touched base with Sam, later we meet with the clients at the Lakelands which was the venue for the walk around, she also ended up coming to shoot another wedding with me which I mentioned in Jason & Kadeen's Blog.
It was going to be a big day with a few traditional Chinese activities which I really enjoyed. Being able to do wedding photos and video for different cultures are such a amazing part of my job generally with lots of color and action.
I arrived at the Monica's hotel in time to get ready for Samson's arrival the tradition is he has to go through a obstacle course to reach his bride followed by tea ceremony for Monica's parents, Which was then followed by a full tea ceremony at Lakelands. We had a bit of a break before the ceremony Monica also got changed into a new dress. Everything went really well with the ceremony.
Now for my favorite part of the wedding I get the bridal party to myself, It is also the time when the couple is on cloud 9 and overflowing with love which is what my job is all about capturing that moment for eternity. Even though they only paid for my 1 person package I got Jess to join me and we set up some really nice shots.
Lakelands really did look amazing for the sunset I LOVE the footage which I shot some at 4k with the new GH4, I might post up a separate video with just the 4k footage.
For the reception Monica got changed into a dress that was going to be a bit easier to move in as there was lots of dancing and speeches, Please check out the video and let me know what you think.
3 months ago Rob and the team decided to make the big change from Canon to Panasonic specifically the GH4, So why the change? The video quality of the GH4 really is unmatched after doing a compassion between the footage of the 2 I knew this was a change I had to make and didn't hesitate in selling all of my gear and stocking up with Panasonic gear.
How does it effect my clients? As its shot in 4k this means your videos are future proof and for those that are lucky enough to own a 4k it really does look absolutely breath taking, We are lucky enough to have our studio and shop full of 4k gear. The only way I can explain it is that it's like 3d but does hurt your eyes and is a lot clearer.
With most of the major brands getting on board high resolution is here to stay, We also have our eyes set on the new 5k Apple iMac.
I was excited from the very first moment I spoke to Brenton about doing video for his proposal. I love capturing people's emotions with my Wedding Video's and enjoyed the prospect of being able to tell a love story like this from the start.
So when he told me the plan was to do it after a hot air balloon ride, I got even more excited. They where heading to the Gold Coast on holiday from Canada so via email we started to talk about ideas, songs aswell as our back story on how to make my attendance believable to his partner and soon to be fiancé Tasha.
Hot Air was the company Brenton decided to go with and they where amazing and where happy to go along with us and we decided the best plan of attack was to say that I was doing a promotional video for Hot Air.
So the big day arrived and I set my alarm for 3.30am as it was a early start to head out to the location, We jumped on the bus and headed out to Cunungra where we where told the pilots where trying to find a suitable spot for take of but would have to head out to beudessert as winds where high.
Sadly enough we arrived to see the winds had not laid up and not before long where told that today wasn't going to be our day and that we had the option to either get a refund or try again at another time, so we decided to try again the following day.
Again we arrived at Cunungra to hear the pilots plans, with rain in the air I expected to be told that we would have to return again the following day. Instead we where told that the pilots had a spot for take of and all was good to go.
We arrived to see the balloons up and before long we where up in the air. It was such a AMAZING experience I got some great footage of the scenery and the couple. We had to land earlier then planned as there was still some rain around but we spent 40min up in the air which I think we where all happy after a landing I quickly got things setup as we decided Brenton would propose down on the ground. The moment really was perfect!!!
We then headed off to Orielys for a champagne breakfast and then went for a stroll around the vineyard. Which I think was a really nice way to finish of the video.
I really hope with all my heart I was able to tell the story via the video of this amazing couple and their special morning. I got to editing straight away as they decided to make the announcement with the video so we couple up a few time over the following wee, Brenton understandably wanted to keep an eye on his project and together I think we achieved the Magic we where looking for.
I would love to do some more of this sort of work I feel like when you experience something like this with a couple it really does connect us and I have told them to book my flights for the wedding and I will be there to shot that aswell and continue the story. Contact Me now if you are thinking about your proposal and lets create some MAGIC!!
I would love to see a few comments on this blog as i really feel this is a video you guys can get excited about :)
I received a call from Katie who had been referred to me from her friend Naomi, who I had previously done a new born baby photo shoot with which is always a nice start..
Katie and her partner Shaun had there wedding planned and had decided to look at getting some video done. At first they just asked for ceremony and speeches, I explained that I am happy to do that but I really feel shooting a little bit before the ceremony whether it be the bride and groom getting ready or just the bride. Then also after the ceremony some of the best video comes during the photos section. Followed by the entry into the reception most wedding photographers and videographers on the gold coast and Brisbane seem to leave at this point, I like to stay around right through the speeches and finally the dancing and fun begins.
We got a bit of a chance to chat during the photos and I got a chance to hear how they meet which was at a Irish bar doing jäger bombs which was a classic story which also ties in with Shaun's black eye, which he received a week before the wedding at the bucks in which him and a group of mates went to Sydney which was also featured during the speeches.
There was a great band there which I spent a bit of time recording and new that the crowd where going to be great once they hit the dance floor and I was right it really was worth staying those few extra hours to get some fun footage to finish up.
Please have a look at my other Wedding Video's & Photography pages.

After a weekend at the Byron Bay Wedding Fair as part of the crew for J'adore Wedding Films & Photography, I decided to get up early and head to the light house for some creative time. I had been meaning to give the time lapse function on the GH4 a run and thought this would be a good time although working out how to do something new at 3.30am in the freezing wind it not highly recommended. Danielle decided to come along for the adventure but decided to head down and grab us some food and hot drinks. So after a bit of playing around I got things setup and let it go. If you are interested in specifics please feel free to ask any questions. Below the video please view at the highest resolution possible. I have also attached a few Images although I didn't take many I think I ended up with a few nice shots.
Canon 6D, 17-40, ISO 100, Shutter Speed 30", f7.1
Canon 6D, 17-40, ISO 800, Shutter Speed 8", f4
Canon 6D, 17-40, ISO 200, Shutter Speed 30", f13
It's always a good sign when you get home from shooting a wedding for 12 hours and you can't wait to check out the images. This was the case with Jason & Kadeen's wedding. Not only did I know there where some great images in there but I felt that I had made the day and the photos experience a fun one for the couple, it just so happens that I had lots of fun myself in the process.
I had meet Jason & Kadeen at another wedding over a year ago and there where a few familiar faces which made it really easy to fit in and get the shots without the posing. Especially when it comes to the dance floor, it seems a lot of other photographers either don't stay for the reception or they leave there 2nd shooter to capture the night, I feel as I am the one that builds the connection with the couple from day 1 that I should be there. I offer Unlimited coverage in ALL my packages
I feel as a photographer in what ever situation I am in if I smile the person I am photographing can't help but smile back and I feel its similar in this situation, If I am smiling and having fun at the reception and on the dance floor whilst taking photos then other people around me are not afraid to do the same.
Back to Jason and Kadeen, they are a great match, Jason is very well balanced, smart and caring and Kadeen is quietly confident beautiful and passionate and I get the feeling she knows exactly how to make Jason smile.
I really hope that by looking at the images you can feel the experience of the day through my eyes, I would also like to thank Sam from clever bean for assisting and 2nd shooting she really was great to have around and would do what ever it took to help me get the image I was after and I look forward to working with her again in a future wedding we have booked together.
I will be uploading more photos as I go so please stay tuned, If you can take 2 secs to leave a blog post its much appreciated.
Its 6.15am Saturday morning and I am calling Jess the studio manager to make sure she is up and ready for the 7am couples shoot with Jarrod and Megan down at the spit which is a local Gold Coast beach, her response is that it's raining outside and that we should cancel the shoot. I assure her that it will be fine and things will clear up and the dark sky will be amazing photos. Fast forward to 7.10am we are standing under a bridge at the spit with the rain pouring down around us and a couple next to us freezing... I must admit I had my doubts.
Jarrod Contacted me in regards to buying a couples shoots for Megan's birthday. He is friends with Rosie who I had recently had in the studio for a fitness shoot and heard good things about me and liked the images. We worked on a theme and some reference images and locked in a date.
So Fast forward now to 8am, Jess is happy the rain has stopped the sky is amazing the couple are having lots of fun and there obvious love and connection is in full flight, I played a few games with them that I play with my wedding couples, just to get them laughing and relaxing. As I sent a grumpy Jess to the car to retrieve the portable lighting kit from the car as the rain had stopped I had a few ideas for some special shots to finish of the shoot. Jarrod put up a post and a pic that he took of one of the final images up on Facebook and said how much of a great time they both had. Well the feeling was mutual I love my job and it felt great to be out sharing that moment with them. I will add the final images to the post as soon as they are edited!!
I have decided to do a 10% OFF for my Premium Couples Photoshoot special till Monday, Paypal available click HERE
It's the time of year on the Gold Coast and Brisbane where we have a lot of body building and fitness comps, last weekend was the INBA comp at chandler and I had 4 friends who all used the same trainer K-Jae who I had also done a shoot with a few years ago. It was the day after comp so the girls where still looking great although they had lunch and a afternoon of cheat meals on there mind from the minute they walked in the door so I knew I had to work quickly.
All of the girls where competing for the first time which in itself is a massive effort and Shayla and Brooke both placing is a such a great effort From all reports both Amy and Em both also looked amazing on stage so full credit to K-Jae for working so hard with all the girls on there prep. We got trough a fair few different looks and ended up with some amazing images, Please check out the images and as always we love to hear your feedback and comments, thanks for listening and I looks forward to chatting again soon.
Ash contacted us in regards to buying a 3 generation photo shoot for her mother and Grandmother for Mothers Day.
We have quite a few people taking us up on our current 50% off family Pamper Package, many of these book in for mothers day shoots, Even I took up this offer and got one for my Mum for mothers day.
They all came in and enjoyed chatting about past mothers day's and how its nice to be able to share this experience together and have some fun and while being able to have some amazing images of them all to put on the walls at home.
After all the lady's finished having there Hair and Make up done, we started with some individual shots and then got to doing the group shots of them all. Making them laugh and even dance a little was a great way to get some amazing flowing poses which made for great pictures. All in all it was a great day and we got some amazing images. We hope you like them and feel free to leave a comment.
