So in my quest to post more regular blogs, and make it a documentation of my expirences am the lessons I have learnt long the way in what is my passion and my creative outlet. The more I work with video on my 5D mark II DSLR the more I get emercessed in the magic of cinematography, I can't watch a add or walk through the shopping centre without looking the different type of light and how it falls on somebody's face. I live on the gold coast and I am lucky enough to work for myself which means that I will often have the few different podcasts I listen to on during the day and my latest is called lens flare 35, I really enjoy it as its interviews with successful photographers and cinematographers and there stories and the best thing is that they are have such a large range in what they do. From Hollywood to Africa and how they got there. The other really interetesting thing about this show is that it does focus a little bit on if its possible to be good at both video and stills, this is a subject that is very close to my heart as that is exactly my plan. The general concensus is that you need to learn both separately which makes sense in my mind and I well although I have done video over the last couple of years 90% of my focus has been on photography BUT I think this is starting to change. I can generally tell this by my watch list on eBay as over the last couple of months there has been more and more video gear making a appearance things like shoulder rigs with follow focus. So I look forward to this we chapter, I have 2 projects on the go at the moment one in which I shot all the video and have passed on to a company who is doing all the editing and putting together promotional material for SAMIN sheet metal and the other is one of my best friends becs wedding video. Both where very challenging in there own way but I do love a challenge. I have got to the stage on becs video where I have now cut it down to the useable pieces and now it's just a case of putting it all together. I look forward to showing everybody as it will truly be my best work yet. I fly of to Sydney to shoot a wedding on Saturday and will hopefully get in some landscape photography while I am there so stay tuned!!
