Gold Coast Wedding Photography and Video - Shayne and Kristy-Leah

I have just finished editing Shayne and Kristy-Leah's wedding video. I had the happy realisation that I am in the unique position of being able to relive the day from start to finish via the video-graphic medium. I have to say spending extra time with this couple was a lot of fun. They both really love life! And, more than that - they love each other. I have the feeling this video will capture such depth of emotion, particularly when they say their vows: you can really tell how much it means to them.

The part that you won"t see in the video? It was a pretty hectic day for the photographic team. This comprised of Dwayne, Karen, Matt and myself. Dean is a seasoned wedding photographer who uses flash to great effect and gets his images to pop, Karen is very artistic and has her own unique style, and as for the video Matty is always coming up with crazy ideas and working his slider.
Both the guys and the girls where getting ready at the same hotel. Unfortunately, as we where on our way to the venue (in the morning) the rain started coming down. Not long after setting up the hair and make up shots, Kristy-Leah received the phone call she was dreading. It was from her wedding planner, of course, who informed her it was going to be too wet to go ahead with the ceremony at Cascade Gardens (as was originally planned) and that they would now have to revert to Plan B. As you would expect, this brought a tear to her eye but was soon covered with laughter as my reply was "no dramas we can just photo shop it in." Luckily enough, she didn't hold me to that!

All went well during the emotion filled ceremony. I was really hoping to walk outside and have the sun shining. My mind was already starting to think of worst case scenarios and the solutions. Like "where do we do group pictures and are we still going to go to the Benowa botanical gardens for the bridal party photos"? I walked outside to see the rain pouring down and had to make a quick decision on where to do the group photos. I am pleased to say it all turned out pretty well.

We decided to do the photos around the venue at which the ceremony was held. There could be no heading to location. This would have only got us wet and would have made a mess of Kristy-Leah's wedding dress. The rain did lighten up, but, by that time it was to late to make a dash for a better location. So, we made the most of what we had in terms of backdrops - we used some different coloured walls and interesting doors.  We also even used the bar! It was definitely not a ideal situation. It was especially disappointing to have it rain (and have the venue change) as I had put in the extra effort to visit the ceremony location and had conducted a model photo shoot just to check out all the possible locations and the lighting beforehand. However, we all did really well. I don't think you would even be able to tell if you didn't know.

We headed to the reception at the Quality Hotel on the Gold Coast. I have to give it to the them their Plan B option was pretty amazing and saved the day for us all. The venue staff were very helpful in letting us roam around for the photo session. What I didn't know is that Shayne and Kristy-Leah were keeping some pretty rad dances moves on the down-low. They put on a epic show and the crowd really loved it. It was great to see as they had obviously been doing dance classes in preparation for some time. They are definitely a fresh and fun-loving couple. We would love to get your feedback and comments, as always. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog, and I look forward to sharing with you again soon.

Hi Rob, My daughter (Kristy-Leah) has always been beautiful but you have just hightlighted her beauty even more. You and your team captured numerous amazing shots of the Bride & Groom, Bridal Party and Group Photo's. Thank you so much for these wonderful memories. I absolutely love the video clip you have compiled out of many hours of taping and I cry every time I view it (especially listening to Kristy-Leah and Shayne's vows). I will have no hesitation in recommending you and your team to anyone looking for a photographer/videographer to help capture their special memories.
