I spent 5 days with Mike Edmondson on a few of his adventures, which included Kosciusko winter camping, photography tours and spring tours which included some of the historic huts the area has to showcase.
Shopping for camera gear may be my favourite thing in this world.. Other then my girlfriend Isla (love you). So save yourself the time and take my knowledge and make it your own after being a professional videographer for 10 years you get to know a little bit about cameras and the Panasonic GH5 really is amazing and specifically for travel the size and weight not just of the camera but the lenses is awesome.
My favourite features of the GH5 are the fact that you can record 4k at 50 frames which means you can do 4k slow motion which is sooo epic and means I can export 4k final edits which really do blow your mind on a big screen. The V-Log L, I will admit it took me awhile to get on the band wagon for this one but honestly once you take the time to put into getting to know your vlog and its potential you will never go back.
The autofocus now this has been pretty big talking point before the GH5 I had never used autofocus but as I decided to give it a go and with the recent upgrade in firmware this is actually pretty awesome. Dual Stabilization so you get the lens and the camera stabilization this is truely amazing I have been running gimbals for years and heldheld this is passable add something like the came-tv optimus to that mix and it is a dream.
Okay so the next question is where to buy well I scoured the internet high and low for australian based company and eglobal was by far the best price and as a bonus I have brought alot of stuff from them and always been happy with the service I even had a lens that needed fixing and they sorted it all for me winning I have a link below for you to check there site out if you order via my link i get a little kick back but you will pay the same price so thanks for the support :)
Where are you in your life now? Where do you want to be? Well for me I was working as a Landscaper and it was "okay", I knew it wasn't where I wanted to be there so I decided to make a change I remember doing a Tony Robbins goals workshop and photography came up a few times and to be honest I was speedwriting and didn't expect it.
The more I thought about it the more I got excited and to be clear I didn't even have my own camera! I borrowed my mums to take photos of my gardens after they are finished. I also enjoyed going to the beach and shooting the sunrise or sunset. So I did more of that which then lead to shooting some model photos for a friend.
Before I knew it a friend had asked me to shoot there wedding and I loved it, their is something magical about being at somebodies wedding and sharing those special moments.
As is generally the way when you enjoy doing something I got better at it quickly and really put every spare moment into it. A year later I put the work boots in the bin and went full time as a photographer. Now your probably asking yourself where does the travel photography come in? Well that all started with destination weddings people loved my work so much they wanted to pay me to travel to places like Fiji, Bali, Thailand and even the AMAZING Costa Rica. So here I am well into my photography journey which actually for the last few years has been more video as its now my passion I am getting paid to travel and shoot weddings.
But I was not doing travel photography as such I am always taking landscape images but recently I had a realisation as I was watching some videos on facebook and youtube from travel bloggers or travel vlogs and the quality was pretty bad and yet they had sooo many views, I realised hey I love travelling and I can take great photo and video so it just made sense to combine the 2!
Looking forward in the calendar I see it jam packed with amazing destinations and events so Isla and I have planned our adventures around them driving through Australia and when overseas extending the trip to goto the unseen parts of places like Thailand and make videos and photos from our adventures!!
Thanks for reading if you made it this far you are probably related to me (hi mum) it means a lot that you are joining me on this journey I hope I can add value to your day.
I recently was invited to be part of the Taste of Love festival in Byron Bay, This was a festival exploring love, sex and consciousness. My role was a the videographer and I was going to put a highlights together swell as record some of the amazing presenters amongst them was so much depth, diversity and quality and was also looking to go on my own self development journey along the way.
My expirence was AMAZING and encourage any body who is curious to check it our next year. Also a massive thanks to Marion, Russell & all the crew for putting together such a amazing event.
I had a amazing adventure over in Japan and got the chance to take a great variety of different images I would love to know which ones are your favourites!!
What a AMAZING day, I have been to alot of fitness events over the and few years and the guys from NABBA/WFF really had things organised and went without many problems and was such a pleasure to be apart of. When Mark Ryan approached me about doing the video and gave me some examples of previous years, I immediately got excited about stepping things up, I took some footage at a IFBB event last year for a friend and we i awe at how things much detail we could see. Everything we shoot is now in 4k (ultra high definition), Which basically means very high resolution, if you think in terms of watching a old family movie compared to todays latest bluray's,its the same scenario here. Its a little hard to get a real idea of the difference online as the file sizes are to big to upload to youtube etc.
Moving back on to the day there where some memorable moments to say the least, The first of which was Shane Falkner this guy is so inspirational I liked him before he even got up on stage when the announcer read that he thanked his training partner for showing up like a kamikaze everyday. Please take the time to watch this one its well worth it.
It was great to see WFF Pro Taylor Smith doing her thing up on stage as a guest performer, she got the crowd up and going with her great energy, stunning body and dance moves. Taylor along with Mark and Mandy are all trainers at Next Step Comp Prep who are great for all your comp prep needs, Her hair was done by Julia from one of the other sponsors Coco Blonde Hair, Tan is by SunTANon who did quite a few of the competitors and I could really tell the difference on stage there product is very good. Anyway back to the video please comment and share!!
The AMAZING Ildiko Gaspar on stage at the NABBA/WFF Southern Hemisphere Championships, I also had the pleasure of doing a photoshoot with IIdiko on the week leading up to the competition she is so humble and such a beautiful person was great to see her up on stage stay tuned for the Images.
I also really enjoying seeing the great mix of entrants from the day from the Body Builders, Figure, Physique and Fitness Models which also included Aerobic Fitness which was great to watch on stage. One of my Favs was Mike Pearson really looked like he was having fun on stage and was great to watch!!
Massive Thanks to all the sponsors listed below
Its that time of year.. Fitness and body building competition time on the gold coast & brisbane, so with IFBB, ANB, NABBA/WFF all around there are lots of people in the best shape and looking to get some photos done as a reward for all of there hard work!! Ally booked in her shoot via out fitness page well in advance so would have been great for added motivation. Ally came into the studio and got her hair and make up done by Rita's Makeup Artistry. Ally was a bit shy to start of as it was her first photo shoot but as she requested I put on some of her favourite country music and she came alive. We spent an hour in the studio and then decided to head of to the gym. We have recently formed a alliance with Plus Fitness 24/7 Southport to do our gym shoots in there which has been really great. The more I shoot there there more I am finding some great spots and setups in the area. Ally was great fun to spend the afternoon with and after I uploaded and sent her the images she didn't take long to pick her 10 favourites so here they are make sure you let us know what you think and which 1 is your favourite. Also managed to sneak some rockwear gear in there which they where happy to share for us.
Sunny is one of those rare people that you meet that are just so kind, make the most of every day and never have a bad work to say about anybody. I meet up with her a few times at the studio and then on location with her mum. Which was great as it really gave us a chance to bond and talk about ideas make a good plan of attack for the day. Pete compliments her well and is strong and easy going.
It was a lot of fun spending the day with these guys and there bridal party. We also had a Eagle attend to drop of the rings and then hang around for photos which was a nice touch. With this being our second day of shooting in a row and have a amazing beach wedding location today was again truely amazing but this time we had a amazing mountain view!! I love spending the full day documenting our couples special day on both photo and video it really does allow us to tell the story the best way possible not just for now but for many generations to come. I think now how amazing it would be to watch a wedding video of my great grandparents in the way that we can capture things now.
Dwayne, Jess and I are starting to make a tradition of thinking outside the box, spending some time planning and crating a shot at reception that we know we are going to LOVE so we pulled sunny away again for some images later in the night. For Jess and I we now have a few hrs sleep before we head of to Melbourne early tomorrow to shoot a wedding video there which we are very excited about. Thank you for listening and please let us know what you think of the images and video.
Dwayne and I have been looking forward to Matt & Margarita's wedding for awhile, Not only do we get to travel to a great location but they are a great couple.
We decided to arrive a day early to attend the rehearsal and check out a few of the locations, was also a good chance to meet a lot of the friends and family which is nice going into a wedding day already feeling comfortable with everybody.
With the reception at Club Jervis which is the local RSL in Huskisson we decided to head there for lunch check out the venue aswell as the surrounding locations.
Wedding day has arrived we head over to start doing photo & video with Magarita & the girls, in this time we generally also capture all the dress, shoes and accessories.
We then head over to see the guys and get Matt and the boys relaxing then putting on there suits and some group shots and in this case some fun images of the lads.
We race back to the girls to get Margarita putting her dress on and then get some nice images of her before we get some group images, I also delivered a letter from Matt which we pulled her aside and got her to read I have attached a link to the video, it was a great little letter it had a few of us with a tear in the eye.
It's now show time we arrive at the beach and I set up the camera for the ceremony and mic up Matt as on the beach it's generally pretty windy and u was unable to link into the celebrates pa which is a bonus sometimes, I have also put in a little bit of video from the ceremony.
Now for the fun stuff with some rain around we decide to chick the bridal party in the limo with some drinks and head of to our first location. It was a advantage that we where able to go with the couple and check out the options available for photos it also gave us a bit of a chance to think over night about ideas. We did some group shots then split up the guys and girls then finished with some of just the couple.
2nd location was a musiem which they had as there back up location if there was rain, again doing some fun group images before pulling our couple away.
Off to club Jervis for the reception we quickly setup for the entrances and not before long we where into speeches cutting of the cake and then our couple hit the dance floor, followed quickly by ALL the guests with Margarita side being Greek they put on some of the traditional song which got the crowd up and into it and made for some great images and video.
It was a massive day for all involved Dwayne and I where absolutely buggered by the time our couple departed for the night. We are used to the luxury of having 4 people on the crew which certainly put the pressure on us to constantly be on the move, I am confident we did well but certainly makes me appreciate having Jess and the rest of the crew around.
Please comment and let us know what you think of the video, photos and the blog. We do this to capture the amazing moments of life so it means a lot when we get positive feedback from you guys.
Wedding at the ZOO what a great idea, sounds like something that I would do, well in this case the groom(Matt) is also a wedding videographer so makes perfect sense.
Matt & Laura are a fun young couple who we really enjoyed spending the day with. After spending a bit or time with the guys in the morning who where a lot of fun even turning to shooting some hoops at one stage.
Heading over to the girls who where staying at the Playford which was really nice we enjoyed getting the chance to check out the different locations that Adelaide had to offer.
Off to the zoo we head and having gone there the previous day to have a good look around and pick a few of our favorite spots and also get some good animal footage that we could potentially work into the video. It was a intimate location with lots of emotion and Jess and I both loved the musician that played at the ceremony and also at the reception later that night.
Afterwards we ventured around the zoo and got creative aswell as make some great images, video and have some fun.
I remember the moment that happened next and as somebody who has been a part of over 60 weddings per year it doesn't happen much. It was pure amazement as we walked into the Library. It was straight out of the hogwarts school in Harry Potter. I was excited, nervous and started shooting straight away and really enjoyed the night, things rolled along like any other reception with speeches, cake cutting etc.
Then the crew hit the dance floor and everybody got involved and had a lot of fun even with the boys having a dance off. It was a great day to be a part of and the video will reflect that.
